Meditation and lactation rooms available on campuses

spcContinuing in its commitment to meet the needs of our diverse student population, Metropolitan State has created designated spaces for nursing mothers and students’ daily prayer or mediation needs.

The lactation room at the Saint Paul Campus has moved from its previous location and is now at Founders Hall Room 140C (FH140). It is available Monday to Friday from 7 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

The room is located on the first floor of Founders Hall in the Dean of Students office suite. FH140 is available for nursing mothers and for meditation. Students interested in using the lactation room must check out the key at the Security Desk in Founders Hall. Students requiring access to the room after 5:30 p.m. or on Saturdays may contact Saint Paul Campus security at 651-793-1717 (desk phone) or 651-775-0444 (cell).

At Midway Center, 1450 Energy Park Drive, the designated room is Room R, located in the lower level of the building. This room is for nursing mothers only, and access to Room R is by keypad entry. Contact the Student Parent Center at student.parentcenter@metrostate.edu or 651-793-1564 to request the key code. Room R is accessible during building hours.

A lactation room is a private space where lactating mothers are welcome to pump or nurse. The lactation/meditation rooms are open to any student with one of the aforementioned needs. Both rooms are private and secure when the doors are closed.

Also available for students and staff is a reflection room in the new Student Center building on the Saint Paul Campus. We also have a reflection area on our Midway Campus (in the 1450 ETC Building). The Student Center staff monitor the space in their building, but the area at the Midway Campus is simply used on a “first come – first served” basis.
