Along with 19 other Foundation Board trustees, Cunningham will strive to generate maximum public awareness and governmental and private support for Metropolitan State in order to assist the university in its development as a comprehensive urban university for diverse student needs.
Cunningham’s past experience includes serving as a research fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs and the associate superintendent of Minneapolis Public Schools. Most recently, he joined the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA) as President and CEO in August 2014. His goal at MEDA is to break down barriers of wealth and self-sufficiency for entrepreneurs of color.
Cunningham graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts. He proceeded to attend Harvard University in 1992, where he received a master’s in public administration.
