Metropolitan State University is pleased to announce Associate Dean Shonda M. Craft as the new acting dean of the College of Health, Community and Professional Studies (CHCPS). She will serve as the acting dean of CHCPS beginning April 6 until a permanent dean is selected.
Craft completed her doctoral degree in human development and family science with a concentration in couple and family therapy. Her educational background also includes a graduate minor, a cognate and a certificate—all in health-related studies. Before assuming her role as associate dean at Metropolitan State, she spent seven years working at the University of Minnesota as a clinical faculty member of the Family Social Science Department, Couple and Family Therapy program.
In her previous role as associate dean, Craft provided oversight of student appeals and reinstatements; evaluated community, tenured and fixed-term resident faculty; assisted with the restructuring of staff roles and tasks; and supervised advising support, contracts, grant management and office management. She will continue to serve the Metropolitan State community and provide strong commitment to professional service and community engagement.
