The time has finally arrived when Metropolitan State students, staff and faculty can park in the new Saint Paul Campus parking ramp. The university received the necessary approvals from the City code officials to open the ramp effective Thursday, July 30. The ramp has room for 760 cars, including 24 handicap stalls, and is open the following times:

  • Monday–Friday: 6:30 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 6:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11:30 a.m.–11:30 p.m.

Initially, the gates will be open so everyone can become familiar with the ramp without a daily parking fee. The gates will likely be operable at the end of August. Faculty and staff should watch for forthcoming details concerning parking registration and effective dates for payroll deduction and semester payments.

Use of the temporary parking lot at Union Depot ended on Friday, July 31. Student use of the lot behind Burger King and at the First Lutheran Church ended Thursday, July 30.

Construction will now begin to create a surface parking lot along Sixth Street where the contractors had their trailers and material storage.  That lot should be available for use in September depending on weather during its construction.
