Accounting Department changes major requirements

Accounting major students are advised that the accounting major program will change course graduation requirements beginning with the fall 2016 semester.

The current ACCT310 – Financial Reporting course will be removed from the curriculum and replaced with two Intermediate Accounting courses:  ACCT311 Intermediate Accounting I and ACCT312 Intermediate Accounting II.

Students who have declared Accounting as their major before beginning the Fall 2016 semester (Aug. 20, 2016) will continue with ACCT310 Financial Reporting as the course degree requirement.  Students who declare Accounting as their major effective at the beginning of the Fall 2016 semester (Aug. 20, 2016) and after this date, will be required to complete both ACCT311 Intermediate Accounting I and ACCT312 Intermediate Accounting II courses as part of the Accounting degree program.

An important purpose for this change is to better prepare Metropolitan State’s Accounting students for careers in accounting.  This change will strengthen student’s knowledge, preparation, understanding and analysis of accounting information.
