Stop on over, Metropolitan State’s brand new Student Center is open until 6:30 p.m. each day this week, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Work on the center has reached “substantial completion” — meaning it’s just about done, but not quite, and workers are finishing a variety of trim, touching up paint, installations and unpacking.
Also, the center will showcase an exhibit depicting the US/Dakota war in 1862. The exhibit developed by the Nicollet Country Historical Society and students at Gustavus to commemorate American Indian Heritage Month will open Monday, Nov. 9 and run through the rest of the month.
Fitness Room: Selected vendors will be ordering equipment in the next couple of weeks. Opening is anticipated for mid- to late-December. Information on cost for staff and faculty usage is forthcoming.
Cafeteria: This space is not yet completed and is currently tarped off. Construction should finish by the beginning of January. Wabasha Deli remains in place until the end of fall semester and the university is working to identify a new on-site vendor to be operational when the café construction completes.
