April 4–8: Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Week

Sexual violence is unacceptable but far too often it is accepted as part of cultural or societal norms the world over. How do we change these norms? It starts with respect and understanding. It starts when one person decides to speak up and others follow that cue. It starts with all of us. This year, Metropolitan State is participating in It’s On Us, a national public awareness campaign to help prevent campus sexual assault.

Melanie DeMore
Vocalist Melanie DeMore performs Thursday, April 7.

Metropolitan State University is committed to providing an environment free of sexual violence. Events this week include several opportunities to sign a pledge to end sexual violence, movie screenings and a chance to hear an outstanding vocal activist. Events are co-sponsored with Student Life Leadership and Development, Student Affairs and Affirmative Action and Join the university in preventing sexual violence by attending campus events April 4–8.
