March 17: Campus Conversation

Recent national and local events impose serious immediate  potential impact on members of many communities represented at Metropolitan State University. The most recent incidents are widespread and grave, and create urgency to clarify how the community can come together and take steps needed to realize Metropolitan State’s values of anti-racism, equity and inclusion.

The discourse taking place on the Metro-Discuss listserv is healthy, civil, and respectful, and the exchange of thoughts and ideas is valuable, says Craig Morris, director of Diversity and Equity at Metropolitan State. The listserv, however, does not generate the level of engaged conversation to constructively ensure a healthy, welcoming and safe campus for all.

The university community is invited to a campus conversation to discuss how to support our communities, especially those who are most adversely affected and continue to be targeted.

The conversation will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 17, Student Center, room 101, Saint Paul Campus.  RSVP to EEO.diversity@metrostate.edu.  All members of the Metropolitan State community are welcome and encouraged to join the conversation.
