Slideshow: Haute Dish Spring Reading 2017

Metropolitan State students read works at one of the most renowned literary centers in the United States when Haute Dish, the student arts and literature magazine of Metropolitan State, hosted it’s 4th Annual Spring Reading on Saturday, April 22 at Open Book in Minneapolis. Open Book is the home of The Loft Literary Center, Milkweed Editions and Minnesota Center for Book Arts.

Haute Dish is now accepting submissions from students, staff, faculty and alumni for their Fall 2017 issue. Submit your poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir/personal essay, photography, illustration, or digital-storytelling (film/video). Multi-lingual poetry and prose is highly encouraged.

Submissions deadline for Fall 2017 is midnight, April 15, 2017.

April 22: Haute Dish Spring Reading

Haute Dish, the student arts and literature magazine of Metropolitan State, is hosting the 4th Annual Spring Reading at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 22 at Open Book, 1011 S. Washington Ave, Minneapolis. Open Book is the home of The Loft Literary Center, Milkweed Editions and Minnesota Center for Book Arts.

Student works will be read at one of the most renowned literary centers in the United States. Students who were published during the last year in Haute Dish are encouraged to sign up to read their work at hautedish@metrostate.edu. A proxy reader may be elected if requested by the author.

 

Haute Dish releases special Fall/Spring issue

The student operated arts and literary magazine, Haute Dish, released a special Fall 2016/Spring 2017 issue this week. The magazine, which showcases the literary and artistic talent of Metropolitan State students, is available on magazine racks throughout all Metropolitan State campuses.

Haute Dish is now accepting submissions from students, staff, faculty and alumni for their Fall 2017 issue. Submit your poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir/personal essay, photography, illustration, or digital-storytelling (film/video). Multi-lingual poetry and prose is highly encouraged.

Nov. 6: Haute Dish fall reading

The arts and literature student organization, Haute Dish, invites students to join them for a casual reading of prose and poetry published in recent issues of the student magazine, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Student Center, Fireplace Lounge, on the Saint Paul Campus, 700 7th St E, St Paul, MN 55106.

The event includes a discussion of the pieces with the artists. Alimama’s cafe in the Student Center will be open for coffee and treats. For more information about Haute Dish, click here.

Join student club – Haute Dish

Haute Dish invites students to get involved in the literature & arts magazine of Metropolitan State. There are a few different ways to do this:

Join the staff

As a staff member, you receive a small stipend and add great experience to your resume.

Time commitments vary for each position: managing editor or co-editor, business manager, design/production artist, web/social media editor.

Become a voting editor

As a voting editor, you will vote on assigned submissions. No actual editing involved.

Time commitment includes three voting sessions and three meetings per year. Editors can submit work but do not vote on their own pieces.

The summer issue of Haute Dish, Metropolitan State’s literary magazine, is available at the following locations:

  • Saint Paul Campus: near main entrances of New Main, Founder’s Hall, St. John’s Hall and near the Library and Learning Center elevators
  • Midway Center: near the Computer Lab entrance
  • Minneapolis Campus: near main entrance of the Management Education Building
  • Brooklyn Park: near main entrance

Haute Dish is now accepting submissions for the fall full color issue. Submit your color or black and white photography, illustrations, poetry, prose or digital storytelling videos by midnight July 15 at Submittable.

Haute Dish now accepting digital storytelling submissions

Haute Dish, Metropolitan State’s literary and arts magazine, announces that submissions are open for a new digital storytelling category. Enrolled students, faculty, staff or alumni may now submit their videos for the summer 2016 edition of Haute Dish. The three video submissions that receive the most votes from the editors will be abstracted in the printed issue and posted on the web.

The deadline for summer 2016 issue submissions is April 15. Subject matter is open; Metropolitan State rules on content publication apply. Black and white or color videos less than five minutes long are accepted. File type should be MP4 or MOV. Further submissions details can be found at this link.
